This research is aimed to find out the translation techniques used by the translator of the novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The theory of translation techniques used in this research is argued by Lucia Molina and Amparo Hutardo Albir (2002) about 18 kinds of translation techniques. The data collected from two versions of Harry Potter novel; Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Novel by J.K Rowling, and Harry Potter dan Batu Bertuah translated by Listiana Srisanti. This research used mixed method design to fulfill the research objective. The result of this study is the translator of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Novel only used 11 from 18 techniques. Amplification technique is used in 10 cases with 19.23%, borrowing and description techniques both used in 3 cases with frequency 5.76%, calque technique used in 1 case with frequency 1.92%, reduction technique used in 8 cases with frequency 15.38%. While, adaptation, transposition, variation techniques are used in every 5 cases with frequency 9.61%, and generalization, modulation, particularization each used in 4 cases with frequency 7.69%. It can be seen that the translator used quite a lot of technique to delivers the Source Text into Target Text to make such a product of translation which can be accepted by Indonesian readers not only adults, but also the teenagers and children.
