The present work is an analysis of students' tendency in translating text from English into Indonesian text. There are many aspects on translation that can be discussed, such as theory of translation, translation method, translation strategy, procedures, the approaches in translation, etc. Nevertheless, this study only focuses on analyzing the students' tendencies in translating text both approach and translation method. The current research conducted at eighth semester students of English Department, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, consists of ten illegible participants. Moreover, the study was carried out by using qualitative method. The result of this study proved that there are seven participants tend to apply the first approach, two participants used second approach, and one participant does not tend to use both approach. Otherwise, the methods that tend to be used by the participant are literal translation, faithful translation and semantic translation. Furthermore, those participants try to produce good translation by using the approach and method of translation, even though the result indicates that the result is not as good as those who are professional.
