This study is an investigation of English Department senior students at Gorontalo State University in Indonesia. The aim of this study was to analyze and find out the information about speaking obstacles to improve and achieve the fluency skill among English students in English Department 2013. The source of data was gathered from the member of English Education students of 2013 (senior students) who already passed all of the courses in speaking classes. The research employed both of qualitative and quantitative methods. A survey (questionnaire) and in-depth interviews were used to gather the research data. A survey was conducted to establish how the English Departement students' experience about their speaking skill especially to attain the fluency mastery as far. Unstructured interview model was used to expand the Questionnaire responses from the students. Interview with some specific qualified students was used to collect more additional of specific information as the data confirmation and evidence which has gathered from the questionnaire phase about the students' obstacles and its factors to achieve fluency skill.
The survey (questionnaire) findings indicated that most of the students in senior level still have felt thought to express their spoken English fluently. Some of the factors such as lack of English vocabulary, English communication environment, Lack of practice, Teaching methodology, Pronunciation, Native language influence, Teaching aids are included obstacles which hinder them from developing the fluency skill while the biggest problem comes from the factor of lack vocabulary among students in English Department.
