Most of the students forget what they learned occurs within 20 minutes after they have first 'learned' something. More is forgotten within one hour, and still more within 8 hours (Ebbinghaus, 1994). Concept card is a strategy that help students to increase vocabulary because it teaches students to look at the words in context, study the connotations of words, and use the words in their own sentence. The design of the present study is quasi experimental with control and experimental classes. The samples of the study were taken from students at class SMK Negeri 1 Gorontalo at class UPW Usaha Perjalanan Wisata. In collecting data, the researcher used instrument in form of Test. The test involved Pre and Post test where pre-test data was administered before the application of Concept Cards Strategy, meanwhile post-test data was administered after the treatment to see students' improvement. In scoring the students vocabulary ability in descriptive text, the researcher used Scoring "Exam Rubric". To analyze the data, the researcher used both SPSS program and calculates manually.
result of the study showed that this strategy is success in enriching students' vocabulary mastery in descriptive text in experimental class which Concept Cards Strategy was applied better than control class which used teacher's strategy. Mean score of post test in experimental class is 86.0, meanwhile, the mean score of control class is 36.0.
