Abstrak

ABSTRACT Dwi Apriliny Hanapi. 321 412 028. 2017. Exploring the figurative language in William Blake's poems "the sick rose" & "ah sun flower", Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Letters and Culture Faculty, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. It was supervised by Adriansyah A. Katili, S.S,M.Pd and Rusni Podungge, S.pd, M.A. Figurative language is one of the features that gives literature its distinctiveness in the form of the "suggestion or indirection, and imagination or invention" that characterize its method of expression. Figurative language means that expressing something in another way to refer one thing by giving the implied meaning. The research aims is to explain about the figurative language in William Blake's poems titled'The Sick Rose' and 'Ah Sunflower' and also the meaning in every line of the poems. The researcher used structuralism approach to analyze the poems. It found that in both poems Blake was obviously prefer to personified person into flowers.
