This research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data are taken from William Butler's poem. The problem statements of this research are : what kinds of metaphor are found in William Butler poem and what does the meaning of each metaphor. It was aimed to identify the kinds of metaphor and to analyze the meaning of each metaphor found in William Butler's poem. There were four steps in collecting the data of this research, namely : finding the data, identification, analysis, and interpretation. Furthermore, this research is analyzed by using semantic approach, according to Bright (1992 :194) said semantic is the study and representation of the meaning of language expression and relationships of meaning among them. Then, each of metaphor found in William Butler are categorized by using Lakoff's theory of metaphor : ontological metaphor, orientational metaphor, and structural metaphor.
