Abstrak

ABSTRACT Nonik Misfarani.2016."The Correlation Between Students' Mastery of Vocabulary and Their Reading Ability" (a research conducted at XI grade of SMA N 1 Telaga). This research is purposed to discover whether mastering vocabulary has a correlation with the students reading ability or not. In this Research I used quantitative method by Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The technique of collecting data was using the test. The test consist of 25 items of vocabulary test and 25 item of reading test. The mean score of vocabulary test is 68.75 and the mean score of reading test is 62.0625. from the calculation by using Product Moment Correlation Formula it was found that the result of rxy = 0.903. the degree of significance 5% = 0.349. It means r0 is higherthan rt (0.903 > 0.349). Thus, alternativehypothesis (ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (ho) is rejected. The conclusion of this research is there is a positive correlation between students' mastery of vocabulary and their reading ability. Key words: Students' Voccabulary Mastery, Reading Ability.
