English Education Study Program, Faculty of Letters and Culture, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. The first advisor is Dr. Suleman Bouti, S.Pd, M.Hum and second advisor is Sri Widyarti Ali, S.Pd, M.Hum.
The issue of translation study particularly translation shift of translated novel has been developed in these few decades. Regarding that, the objective of the study is to finds out the types of translation shifts based on the structure that occur in translated novel of "Divergent". In doing this research, the writer makes notes to find out the differences and compare them certainly translation shift in the "Divergent" novel. This study employed descriptive qualitative method and source of data of the study have been taken from "Divergent" novel in English version as the source language (SL) and in Indonesian version as the target language (TL). Further, after finding the data that contained shift, the writer began to analyze the data according to the types of shift based on the theory of translation by Catford (1965). As the result, it is finds there are 47 data as the sample. From the data, the dominant shift is finds in unit shift, there are 29 data finds in this type. While the subcategorized of category shift there are 5 data of level shift, 6 data of structure shift, 6 class shift and there is only 1 type of shift finds in this data.
