Advisor (2) Nurlaila Husain,S.S,M.Pd A good strategy is the role important in teaching writing process to support the learning process and students motivations to make the students mastered in learning, because the teacher strategy in teaching writing is one of the steps that can facilitate students to write. Therefore this research is descriptive study about the application of mind mapping strategy in teaching writing on descriptive text. the aim of conducting this research is want to describe how the teacher applies the mind mapping strategy in teaching writing on descriptive text for students eight grade in SMP Negeri 1 Dulupi in the academic year 2016/2017. The researcher conducted a observation, interview, and document as the technique of collecting the data. The site of this study is one teacher who thought in eight class. Therefore the researcher select VIII A class as a class that observed, the class consists of 21 students, 12 female and 9 male. The research findings shows that the steps of mind mapping strategy according to the theory put forward by Buzan used by the teacher in applying mind mapping strategy and students reactions in writing using mind mapping strategy is the students can finished their work on time and do it with enjoy. Therefore the teacher was successfully applies the strategy, it can be seen in applying the mind mapping strategy the students get results that meet the minimum mastery criteria.
