This research investigated the external factors that affect the studentsâ interest in learning English as oriented to Rahmah (2011, p.56) where she stated that the most affecting factor in studentsâ interest is the school factor. Thus, this research examined three indicators in school factors which were teacher indicator, facility in teaching and learning English indicator, and the peer factor. The qualitative method was used to construct this research through interview as the primary technique and observation technique to support this research. This research was conducted at SMP 2 Tilongkabila in 8th grade and 9th grade students. As the result, the researcher got that firstly the teacher indicator strongly has argued by all the students had affected their interest in learning English, the various method that the teacher used and the various material dominantly affected the studentsâ interest. Secondly, the facility in teaching and learning process can affect the studentsâ interest even though it did not have much effect. Thirdlythe peer factor also strongly affected the studentsâ interest where it motivated them in learning English. Hence, it can be concluded that these three factors had contributed in studentsâ interest in learning English.
