Abstrak
ABSTRACT Sity Fatima Nur Polapa. 321 413 064. 2020. "Teaching Writing Through Word Mapping Strategy". English Department, Faculty of Letters and Culture, State University of Gorontalo. The firs advisor is Dr. Hj. Rasuna R. Talib, M.Hum and second advisor is Sri Rumiyatiningsih Luwiti S.Pd, M.Pd. This research aimed to investigate the teaching writing through word mapping strategy focusing on writing recount text. Thus as the treatment of research, the research gave word mapping strategy to enhance the students' writing ability. It is an experimental research conducted into one group or not using compared group designed by comparing between the result of pre-test (the begining test) and the result of post-test (the ending test or test after treatment). As the result, there is an increasing from 54,29% to 74,29%, in indicator content, 49.29% to 68,57% in indicator form 51% to 71% in indicator grammar, and from 53,57% to 75,72% in indicator mechanic. This means the word mapping strategies could have a good effect on students' writing recount text. This could be proven by the hypothesis of the result of this study. From the calculating of the data by using a t-test, the researcher found that t count, it was more than t list or 20,29 1.68. It can be conclude that word mapping strategy could improve the students' writing recount ability. Keyword: Word Mapping Strategy, Recount Text, writing.
