This present study discusses about an analysis of translation technique in translating narrative text. Several aspects of translation techniques can be discussed, however, this research only uses eight techniques, including literal translation, idiom translation, calque translation, and the like. Moreover, the purpose of this research is to investigate the product of English to Indonesian translation from students of English Department class of 2013 in translating Narrative text and analyze it based on those eight translation techniques. The data were analyzed by employing a qualitative method. The result reveals that the borrowing technique is the most technique that the participants use for about 37 times. The less dominant technique, on the other hand, is the transposition technique applied seven times by the participants. Furthermore, the participants prefer to use the borrowing technique because they believe that the diction is more familiar and it is easier for readers to understand the text.
