This study is purposed to describe the types of lexical ambiguity that take place in "Hotel Transylvania II" movie. In order to describe the data, the method used in this study is qualitative descriptive method. According to Djajasudarma (2010) the descriptive method is a method that aims to make the description meaning. The data are collected through some steps, such as watching the movie, taking notes, and reviewing. To test if the data is truly recognized as ambiguous word, thus this study used the test of ambiguity by the theory of Cruse (2006). This study has done the process of data analysis through several steps, such as identifying, classifying, analyzing and interpreting the data. The theory of Ullman (1977) is the main theory used to categorize the data. There are two types of lexical ambiguity; polysemy and homonymy. Polysemy takes place on the same word that has two or more different meaning, while homonymy takes place on two or more different words that have identical sounds. In this study, the types of lexical ambiguity are defined by describing the utterances, the setting of place and the setting of time, which are derived from the context and situation in movie Hotel Transylvania II. It is intended to give the reason that causes multiple interpretations. It gives some impacts such as making some misunderstanding and leading into variants interpretations. As the result, there are 14 data in 14 utterances identified as lexical ambiguity. According to the types of lexical ambiguity, all of the data are categorized as polysemy, it takes place on the same word that have two or more different meaning and it derives from the context in the movie which has different situation that gives different meaning. It gives impact to lead the meaning into multiple interpretation. Therefore, none of them are categorized as homonymy. It means there are no types of lexical ambiguity which take place on two or more different words that have identical sounds. In conclusion, polysemy is the only type of lexical ambiguity appears in the movie, while homonymy does not take place in movie entitled "Hotel Transylvania II".
