Abstract Ayu Ninti Thaib, 2018. NIM 321414003. Teaching Reading Comprehension by Using Elicitation Technique, English Department, Letters and Cuture Faculty, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. Advisor (1) Dr. Hj, Rasuna R. Talib, M.Hum (2) Rahmawaty Mamu, S.Pd , M.Pd The aimed of this research is to know whether the use of elicitation technique can improve students reading comprehension in narrative text significantly. The method used to collect the data in this research was Pre-Experimental with one group pre-test and post-test design. The rearch conducted at Second grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Kota Gorontalo, in the academic year 2017/2018 as the sample of research. the finding of the data in this research was found from the students mean score in the pre-test is about 11.43 and the students mean score in the post-test turns up about 19.98. from the t-test it was proved that there was a significant difference between the score of the pre-test and post-test. In conclusion , the use of elicitation technique has significantly imrpoved students reading comprehension in narrative text. In the other hand, this research hopefully will useful to the students, teacher and other researcher. To the students, they will more understand about the reading text, to the teacher they can use this technique in the classroom to make students more understand about reading text and to the other researcher , they can make this research as their guideline if they have same case.
