This research studies the impact of English Pop Songs as media to help students mastering vocabulary. This research is a quantitative study using a pre-experimental design. Mastering vocabulary is the main point in language ability because someone, who listens, speaks, reads, and writes, need to master vocabulary. Moreover, Richard (2002, p.255) stated that mastering vocabulary is the core component of language proficiency and provides much of the basis for how well learners speak, listen, and write. Based on the experience that the researcher got from teaching practice two at eight grades of SMPN 1 Bulango Utara, the researcher discovered that the students still having difficulty in finding out the meaning in English passage. For instance, when the teachers ask their students the meaning of several vocabularies that have been previously discussed as a game material to get a reward, the students cannot answer the question sometimes because of their lack of vocabulary. Through this phenomenon, the researcher believes that Pop Songs can be used as the media to teach vocabulary. Multiple-choice tests were used to collect the data. From the result of the test, it appeared that the students' score in pre-test and post-test has a significant difference. In the pre-test result, the students����¯�¿�½���¯���¿���½����¯�¿�½�¯�¿�½ obtained 41,70 % and it was increased in the post-test result, which is 58.60%. From the result of both pre-test and post-test previously, the researcher believes that the English Pop Song can help the students in mastering English vocabulary.
