Motivation is an important part of gaining success in teaching and learning process is a must that needed to be considered and addressed. This research, however, took a deepen look at motivation as regards students' anthusiasm in learning English as a foreign language. Motivation integrative and instrument upon which those types were based the theory of Gardner and Lambert were utilized and furthere compared of which was dominant the most. Through descriptively quantitative method, this research was applied questionnaire as the research instrument and was administered to 50 students of English Department, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. The statistical findings revealed that the instrumental motivation played the most dominant type which was 92%, whilst the integrative motivation was 87%. Regarding this result, it is suggested that the students need to keep their motivation in learning English.
