The importance of English speaking skill has required students of English Department to master the skill for communication requirement. However, several factors make the students reluctant to speak English. Therefore, the aims of this research were to find out what are the factors that make students in semester fourth reluctant to speak English and to identify what was the most influential factor that makes the students at semester fourth reluctant to speak English. The participants of this research were the students of English Department at fourth semester. Data were collected using questionnaire and interview, and analyzed by using a mix method approach. The results show that from seven factors which caused students of English Department reluctant to speak English, the most influential factor was teacher/lecturer factor (62,5%) and the lowest one was classroom atmosphere (29,11%). Meanwhile, five of them such as lack of confidence (39,74%), shyness (36,25%), fear of mistakes (37,25%), lack of motivation (51,25%), and teaching strategy (37,9) were not influential students' reluctant significantly. Thus, this research recommends that the teacher need to be more friendly and creative in teaching English speaking. It can motivate the students to be better in English speaking skill.
