This study has a title ��Ã..."Contrastive Analysis of Derivational Prefixes between English and Mongondow LanguageÃ��ÂÂ. This study aims to find out the similarities and differences of prefixes in both of English and Mongondow Language, and focused on the function and meaning. In collecting the data, the writer does several steps are reading and observing the source of data, finding the prefixes of both languages, then selecting the data to be anlayzed. In English is obtained from journal, other thesis and book which contain prefixes. While, in Mongondow language is collected from a book entitled Morfologi dan Sintaksis Bahasa Bolaang Mongondow, from the internet and took some participants as the validator. In analyzing the data, the writer used two procedures are describing and contrasting. The result of this research was found that both of English and Mongondow language are correspondence because they have similarities and differences in terms of function and meaning. Some prefixes can change the word class when attach to the basic word and the other prefixes do not change the word class and one of prefixes of both languages have a same meaning.
