Abstrak

Ã���Ã..."StudentsÃ���Ã��� Perception on LyricsTraining Application used in Teaching English in Listening skill at SMP Negeri 4 Gorontalo, Grade VIII, Class VIII.5, in Academic Year of 2019 / 2020Ã���Ã�. English Department, Faculty of Letters and Culture, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. The supervisor is Dra. Elsje L. Sambouw, M.Hum. and The Co-Supervisor : Farid Muhamad, S.Pd., M.A. Among four skills in English course, listening skill is an important skill to be taught. It is because the students spend their time more in listening. However, for the teacher, they require to takes much effort to teach it. Nevertheless in real life, especially in Gorontalo, the schools that the researcher has been observed, the result of it is some teachers keep using same technique or method to teach listening skill, also they lack of facility to teach in various way. Because of the teacherÃ���Ã���s way to teach it affect much to the studentsÃ���Ã��� skill and knowledge. Hence in this research is purposed to give the students to get another way to teach them in listening with an application called LyricsTraining then asked their perception about this application. This application also purposed to make the students or learners practice listening skill in a fun way. The participant of this research is the students of class VIII.5 in SMP Negeri 4 Gorontalo. The data were collected using observation and questionnaire. The findings showed that most of students in this class were agree that LyricsTraining application can be a media in teaching and learning process. The majority also agreed that this application is easy to be used, offer many features and also made them were fun, enjoy, have no pleasure and felt the atmosphere in classroom became more enjoyable. Furthermore, this application also has an affect for their listening skill, the repeat and stopping features help them to listens the words and also they gained a lot of new vocabularies.
