The aim of this research is to investigate the use of PQ4R method whether can improve the students' reading comprehension in explanation text at SMA Negeri 4 Gorontalo. The sample consisted of (30) male and female students of XI IPS. This research used experimental research; with its design is only one group pre-test and post-test design. The result of this research is the students' reading comprehension in explanation text has improved significantly by using PQ4R method that research findings can be proved that the students mean score in pre-test is 5. 30 while the mean score in post-test is 14. 35. Thus improvement can be calculated by the result of that t count is 15. 15 was more than t table is 1. 697. It means that the hypothesis of this research is tenable; it namely PQ4R method had a large significant effect on students' reading comprehension of explanation text or it proved there was a difference of students' reading comprehension of explanation text.
