This study is aimed at describing types of error on present perfect tense found in the English students' answer sheets. The data of this research is obtained from the fourth semester's answer sheets of English Department students, Letters and Cultures Faculty, State University of Gorontalo. Furthermore, the data are analyzed by using surface strategy taxonomy (Dulay, et al 1982) in order to describe types of error on present perfect tense. The result of this research shows that students produced several errors of present perfect tense on their test, which are auxiliary, past participle, and adverb of time. Those errors are categorized as omission, misformation, addition, and misordering. Consequently, the outcomes of this study is expected to provide an additional knowledge for the students related to the error on present perfect tense and convey the information for the lecturer related to students' difficulties on present perfect tense to do some improvement on teaching and learning process.
