Pause is the source of English department students' problem in speaking English. This research was aimed at analyzing pause and factors influence that pause of the English department students. This research was designed to find out what types of pause and factors influence the pause which frequently occurred to the English department students who participated in the proposal presentation in the 5th international students' conference held by the English department students' class of 2016. It was applied qualitative method by using documentation analysis with observation and interview. The participants involved English department students who presented their research proposal in the event. Based on the findings, all participants produced pauses during the research proposal both silent and filled pauses, which silent pauses consist of silent respiration and silent expiration, while filled pauses consist of filler words, repetition, and a false start. The students produced silent respiration, silent expiration, filler words, repetition, and a false start. Those were due to some factors such as psychology constraint, limited in English proficiency, aware of doing pause, hesitation, and anxiety.
