Translation is a process of delivering messages from the source language into the target language that must be clear to be understood, especially a fairy tale that must be modified to the reader's goals or targets. Moreover, in translating fairy tales must consider various aspects of translating them. Another reason, most of the readers of fairy tales are children; therefore, the translator must use a sentence that readers can readily understand. This investigation makes use theory by Molina and Albir's (2002, pages 509-511) translation techniques to categorize the techniques that translator take when working on the process of translating a fairytale story. This research aims to discover the translation techniques used in the translation of English-Indonesian fairy tales by Carlo Collodi entitled "The Adventure of Pinocchio". The data use of the study were obtained using qualitative method to analyze the data. The researcher used document as the instrument to collecting the data. The total number of TT is 312 frequencies which are distributed to nine types of translation techniques. Including adaptation 62 cases, compensation 71 cases, borrowing 1 cases, amplification 3 cases, discursive creation 4 cases, established equivalent 1 cases, literal translation 150 cases, modulation 6 cases, reduction 14 cases. It is feasible to conclude that, when translating a fairy tale story, literal translation is the most common techniques employed by Lulu Wijaya as a translator.
