This research analyzes the difficulties in speaking English encountered by the students majoring in the Tourism Department and the anticipation of the perceived English-speaking difficulties. A qualitative method is employed in discovering the results, where it is conducted at the Tourism Department at a university in the Province of Gorontalo and the participants were recruited from the Tourism Department, ranged from the class of 2015 to 2017. Data collection was employed by using interview. The results showed that most of the participants struggled to communicate in English, particularly when interacting with foreigners. The difficulties include lack of vocabulary and comprehension in certain accents. In addition, the results show that in anticipating those difficulties, students employed practice, using gestures, and technology. Therefore, it can be concluded that students of tourism department were in fact encountered the difficulties in speaking and they used various ways in order to overcome those difficulties
