This research aims to know the process of using children's song in teaching vocabulary. Vocabulary is one of the basic skillsin learning reading, speaking, writing and listening. In learning vocabulary, there are various strategies that are available for the teachers to be chosen in order to be applied for teaching language to children and among the strategy is using the song, which include songs.Nambiar (1980, p.80) explained that songs introduce an atmosphere offun, and informality in the classroom that is a far more conductiveenvironment for language learning than a strictly regimentedatmosphere, which resulted in a new, fresh feeling in learning vocabulary.A qualitative method is employed in discovering the results and in this research, there were three participants who happen to be the English teachers in Santa Maria Catholic School of Gorontalo. Data collection was employed by using interview. The results showed that the implementation of songs in teaching vocabulary to the students of Catholic Elementary School of Santa Maria is proven to be effective because as seen in the findings that students provided positive outcomes during the implementation of the said method. Based on the findings, it is discovered that the teachers implemented songs in different ways, including playing the songs repeatedly, familiarizing the children with the songs, and handing over the lyrics to the students and had them memorize four lines of the given lyrics. Therefore, one may conclude that songs are suitable to be applied as one of the methods in teaching.
