Strategy is very important for the students in order to get the meaning of the talks or audio that is being listened. Therefore, the researcher conducted this research in order to know how are the students������ perceptions on the effect of teacher strategies in listening for academic purposes toward the achievement of TOEFL scores. In this research, document and interview is used as the technique of collecting the data. The participants of this research are the students of English Department in academic year 2015. The sample of the research are 18 students that using puposive sampling. The result of this research showed that the students had a good perception about the effect of teacher strategies in listening for academic purposes toward the achievement of students TOEFL scores. The teacher������s strategies can help them to answer the listening TOEFL test in part A, B, and C, and they can get a high score in doing the test. Even they still have difficulty to answer the question from the listening TOEFL test, because many factors that can be a problem for them such, as they lack of vocabulary, lost concentration but, students as the listener have to their self by practicing more and learn from various refernces.to get a good score in listening TOEFL.
