Novels have become an extremely popular phenomenon since many films was adopted from that literary genre. Novels based on a true story from someone also steal a lot of the attention of the readers in addition to being easy to relate to real life, the characters contained in the story also really exist in the real world.A character's personality not only determines the storyline but also becomes a very interesting thing to analyze.Salva Dut is a lost boy from Sudan who has to go through various difficulties in life and at the end of the story is described as a successful person. This present study aims to find out how this lost boy personality develops and makes him survive according to Erik H. Erikson Theory of Psychosocial Development. This study is a qualitative study that collects the primary data from the text of A Long Walk to Water Novel by Linda Sue Park. Through various challenges in life and facing various difficulties and living in the midst of a harsh environment is very decisive to shape one's identity.
