Abstrak

In this research, researcher took the title "Mafia family succession" (a study on Godfather Novel By Mario Puzzo). This novel tells about a family-based Italian mafia organization. In general, the mafia is always associated with things repated to crime. As a mafia organization, the Corleone family succeeded in achieving success as described in one of Mario Puzo's literary works entitled Godfather, which was published in 1969. This study aims to find out how the mafia avhieves success. This research is a qualitative that used descriptive method based on structure in the literary work. The results of this study indicate that there are eight factors that made Don Corleone and his family avhieves success, namely by conducting several illegal businesses including gambling, liquor manufacturing, liquor smuggling and importing olive oil businesses. Some of these illegal businesses, other factors that support the success of the Corleone family are the omerta system, untouchables, avoiding businesses that have a big risks such as narcotics and friendly relationship.
