Abstrak
ABSTRACT Firmansyah Laboro, 321417029, The Use of Digital Storytelling Media to Improve Students��� skill in Writing Recount Text. (A Research Conducted at the Second Grade Students of Class A in SMP N 1 Bulango Timur Academic Year 2021/2022) A Skripsi of Department of English Education, Faculty of Literature and Culture, State University of Gorontalo, 2022. Sri Widyarti Ali, S.Pd., M.Hum This study aimed to find out the significant improvement of the students��� skill in writing recount text by using digital storytelling media at SMPN 1 Bulango Timur. The method used in this study is a quantitative method. A pre-experimental design was employed as a research design in this study. The population of this research is the second-grade students of SMPN 1 Bulango Timur. The total number of students is 105 and the sample was 15 students chosen through purposive sampling technique. The instrument of this research was writing test which consists of pre-test post-test and the analytic writing rubric was used to score the student���s writing on the pre-test and post-test. The result of this study showed that the use of digital storytelling in student���s writing recount text was effective. It was indicated by the mean score of pre-test was 64,67 while post-test was 80,73. So the comparison between pre-test and post-test was 24,83%. It was concluded that the use of digital storytelling media was effective in improving students��� skill in writing recount text. It was proved statistical analyses by t-test for writing skill (2,218) was greater than t-table (1,761) at level significant 0,5 with degree of freedom (d�') = n-1=15-1=14. It meant that there was an improvement of the students��� skill writing skill recount text through digital storytelling media. Therefore, digital storytelling was recommended to be used in learning writing recount text, particularly at junior high school level Keywords: digital storytelling, writing, recount text
