Abstrak

This research aims to find out which person deixis is more dominant in the song Sami Yusuf and to determine what meaning is being sent to listeners by interpreting each lyric of the five songs of Sami Yusuf, which are; Wherever you are, Fragile World, Trials of life, Make Me Strong, and Mother. The song lyrics can be analyzed using pragmatic approach, specifically using theory of Alan Cruse (2000) about deixis. The researcher used descriptive qualitative methods because the data to be examined is contained in the form of sentences on the song. The findings showed that, every stanza in the lyrics of Sami Yusuf's song has a very deep meaning and is able to make people who hear or read the lyrics of the song feel as if they are in the author position, because Sami Yusuf writes the lyrics of the song according to his life experience and not a few have life experiences like the author. In addition, this research there are 3 types of person deixis, which are first person, second person, and the last is third person. Keywords: Person Deixis, Songs, Sami Yusuf.
