Human, as an individual has a variant of needs that must be fulfilled; the needs derive human to create numerous ways to provide for their needs. Wherein the fulfillment of human needs, will satisfy them and counted as an achievement of any individual. The fulfillment of human needs not only occurs in reality but is also depicted in literary works. The phenomenon of the fulfillment of human needs is depicted in the detective story Murder on The Orient Express by Agatha Christie, where during the investigation process Hercule Poirot, the detective, has the chance to fulfil his needs. This study will look at how the needs fulfillment affected the detective in achieving his success which is solve the case. This study used the psychoanalytic criticism approach based by the theory of Abraham Maslow Hierarchy of needs. Through the study, it is found that the fulfilment of the needs process affecting Hercule Poirot in choosing the crime case solution.
