Toxic masculinity is closely related with patriarchy; a system in society that places men superior than women. It emphasizes men to be tough, strong and avoid showing emotions, consequently it creates toxic men with no compassion, men who justified violent in order to be dominant as was portrayed in Captain America: The First Avenger film. Thus, this study aims to observe the portrayal of toxic masculinity in the film through theree men characters by using toxic masculinity theory. This qualitative research used intrinsic approach which focused on the narrative elements of the original film script as the primary source without ignoring the film itself because it gave clear depiction of setting and plot. The result showed the portrayal of toxic masculinity behavior in the three men characters emphasized several things, including 1) the depiction of muscular men as an ideal men, 2) men must be tough, strong, and dare to take risks, 3) men must pursue their ambitions by any means, 4) men must be able to do everything, especially those related to physical strength like fighting on the battlefield, 5) men must not look weak, so they must avoid expressing emotions as it considered as feminine which is opposite with masculine value.
