This research was conducted to investigate strategies students used in writing English narrative text in junior high school. A descriptive study on students' strategies in writing narrative text in the second semester of the 2022 academic year. The purpose of this study is to examine eighth-grade students' methods of producing narrative text at SMP Negeri 12 Gorontalo. A descriptive qualitative approach was used in this study. Based on the student's strategies, this approach determines the student's ability to write narrative text. The students of SMP Negeri 12 Gorontalo in the eighth grade of the 2022 academic year are the site and participants of this research, with twenty participants. The researcher collects data by having students write short stories about a narrative text. First, in pre-writing strategies, students write their text based on a topic in which they are interested. In the first step of writing narrative text, students use strategies such as making an outline and searching for ideas on Google. Students use translation in the second step while writing strategies, as well as asking the teacher and their friends when they are having difficulty expressing an idea, and in the final post-writing strategies, students revise and edit their text after writing, even though other students did not revise their English narrative text.
