This study analyzed the swear words uttered by all the characters in the "End of Watch" movie using a socio-pragmatics study. Swear words are harsh words that are said by someone to express what they feel, whether it's feelings of anger, frustration, joy, sadness, and so on. This study was conducted using the qualitative method. Besides, the data was collected using the note-taking method by watching, selecting, categorizing, analyzing, and describing the content of utterances that contain swear words. The data was analyzed based on Andersson and Trudgill's theory about types of swear words and Staley's theory about factors that cause characters to use swear words. The steps include preparing the data for analysis, reading and understanding the data, categorizing, describing the data, re-watching the movie, presenting the findings and analyzing the data, and drawing conclusions. The result of data analysis showed that there were 34 data that consisted of four types of swear words used by all the characters in the movie "End of Watch," with several causal factors. There were 14 data including in expletive swearing with 9 factors, 16 data in abusive swearing with 10 factors, 2 data in humorous swearing with 2 factors, and 2 data in auxiliary swearing without factors caused. According to the data, expletive and abusive swearing were the most frequently used types in this movie, with several factors causing characters to use swear words. While the least used types were humorous swearing and auxiliary swearing. Hence, this research is expected to be a source of information that can be used by future researchers to understand swear words more deeply.
