Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan tentang kemampuan menyusun proposal penelitian mahasiswa jurusan pendidikan matematika. Kemampuan menyusun proposal penelitian ini ditelusuri dalam sembilan aspek kemampuan, yaitu; (1) merumusan judul, (2) menyusun latar belakang penelitian, (3) merumusan masalah, (4) mengkaji teori, (5) menyusun hipotesis penelitian, (6) menyusun metodologi penelitian, (7) mengembangkan instrumen, (8) menyusun teknik analisis data, dan (9) Menyusun hipotesis statistik. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam waktu tiga bulan di Jurusan Pendidikan Matematika dengan meninjau 30 buah dokumen proposal penelitian mahasiswa melalui teknik simple random sampling. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menyusun proposal penelitian pendidikan matematika pada indikator merumuskan judul sebesar 70%, menyusun latar belakang penelitian sebesar 38,67%, merumuskan masalah sebesar 69,33%, mengkaji teori sebesar 34%, menyusun hipotesis penelitian sebesar 40%, menyusun metodologi penelitian sebesar 48,89%, mengembangkan instrumen sebesar 39,17%, menyusun teknik analisis data sebesar 51,11% dan menyusun hipotesis statistik sebesar 38,33%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulan bahwa kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menyusun proposal tergolong kategori sedang atau dapat dikatakan masih cukup rendah.

The purpuse of this research is describe the ability to develop a research proposal students majoring in math education. The ability of the research proposal is traced in nine aspect capability, namely: (1) formulation of the title, (2) prepare background research, (3) formulation of the problem, (4) reviewing the theory, (5) develop research hypothesis, (6) develop research methodology, (7) develop instruments, (8) develop data analysis techniques, and (9) develop statistical hypotheses. The research was carried out within three months at the Department of Mathematics Education by reviewing 30 pieces of student research proposal document through simple random sampling technique. The method used is descriptive method. The results showed that the percentage of students' ability in mathematics education research proposal on the formulating of the titles indicator by 70%, preparing background research for 38.67%, 69.33% amounting to formulate the problem, working on the theory by 34%, formulate research hypotheses by 40 %, the study sets out the methodology for 48.89%, 39.17% amounting to develop instruments, compose a data analysis technique for generating hypotheses 51.11% and 38.33% of statistics. Based on these results can be concluded that the ability of the students in preparing proposals can be classified as a category quite low.
