Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adalah untuk mengetahui apakah dengan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Post Test Only Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI-IPA SMA Negeri I Bonepantai tahun ajaran 2017-2018 yang berjumlah 69 siswa yang tersebar dalam 3 kelas. Sampel penelitian adalah kelas XI-IPA3 yang dibelajarkan dengan model Problem Based learning (PBL) dan kelas XI-IPA1 yang dibelajarkan dengan model pembelajaran langsung yang diambil secara Simple Random Sampling. Instrumen pada penelitian ini menggunakan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa berbentuk essay. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan menggunakan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) lebih tinggi dari kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung. Ini berarti bahwa model Problem Based Learning (PBL) lebih baik dalam membelajarkan pokok bahasan ukuran pemusatan dari pada model pembelajaran langsung.

This study aims to determine whether the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The method of this research is an experimental method. The research design used in this research is Post Test Only Control Group Design. The population in this study is all students of grade XI-IPA in the academic year 2017-2018 which involved 69 students from in 3 classes. The sample of this research is XI-IPA3 class which is modeled with Problem Based Learning (PBL) and XI-IPA1 class which is taught by direct learning model taken by Simple Random Sampling. Instrument in this study employed students' mathematical problem-solving skills in the form of form of essays. The results showed that students' mathematical problem-solving ability that was learned by using Problem Based Learning (PBL) model was higher than students' mathematical problem-solving ability which was learned by using direct learning model. This means that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model is better at learning the subject of measures of center than the direct learning model.
