Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang dibelajarkan dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Structured Numbered Heads (SNH) dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang dibelajarkan dengan model pembelajaran langsung (Direct Instruction) pada materi limas. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimen yang dilakukan di kelas VIII semester genap tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Posttest Only Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Limboto Barat. Sampel penelitian diambil secara Simple Random Sampling, terpilih dua kelas yakni kelas VIII-1 yang dibelajarkan dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Structured Numbered Heads (SNH) dan kelas VIII-2 yang dibelajarkan dengan model pembelajaran langsung (Direct Instruction). Instrument pada penelitian ini menggunakan tes kemampuan komunikasi matematik berbentuk tes uraian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematik yang dibelajarkan dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Structured Numbered Heads (SNH) lebih tinggi dari pada kemampuan komunikasi matematik yang dibelajarkan dengan model pembelajaran langsung (Direct Instruction).

The research aims at understanding mathematical communication ability of students who were treated by structured numbered heads learning model and direct instruction model on pyramid topic. The reseach applied experimental method to students at class VIII in even semester of 2016/2017 academic year. It applied posttest only control group design. Research population was students at class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Limboto Barat. Sampling was completed by simple random sampling and there were two classes selected such as VIII-1 class which was treated by SNH learning model while VIII-2 class was treated by direct instruction model. Research instrument was test on mathematical communication ability which was delivered in essay form. Findings reveal that mathematical communication ability of students through the application SNH learning model was higher than direct instruction model.
