Abstrak

Novita Kadir, Nim 411415072. Deskripsi Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa pada Materi Barisan dan Deret Aritmetika di Kelas IPA SMA Negeri 1 Telaga. Jurusan Matematika, Prodi Pendidikan Matematika Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, 2021.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi barisan dan deret aritmetika. Penelitian deskripsi ini dilakukan disekolah SMA Negeri 1 Telaga dikelas IPA-4 dengan subjek 25 siswa pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Data kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa diperoleh menggunakan tes pemecahan masalah berbentuk essay yang telah memenuhi syarat validitas butir dan reliabilitas instrumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa tidak tinggi ataupun rendah dalam artian standar. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil analisis dari 4 indikator dimana dari paparan hasil penilaian tiap indikator tersebut terdapat nilai rata-rata seluruh indikator berpikir kritis yaitu 50,33%, dimana terdapat 6 siswa dalam kategori tinggi dengan persentasi 24%, 14 siswa berada dalam kategori sedang dengan persentasi 56%, serta 5 siswa dalam kategori rendah dengan persentasi 20%. Dari hasil deskripsi diatas menunjukan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa bervariasi dan belum maksimal, hal ini dikarenakan kebiasaan siswa yang hanya mengandalkan hafalan rumus tanpa adanya pemahaman dari materi tersebut serta kurangnya perhatian siswa saat guru menjelaskan materi didepan kelas. Oleh karena itu kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa termasuk dalam kategori sedang.

This study aims to describe students' critical thinking abilityon arithmetic sequences and series materials. This descriptive research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Telaga in IPA-4 class with the subject of 25 students in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. Data on students' critical thinking ability were obtained using a problem-solving test in the form of an essay that met item validity and instrument reliability requirements. The results showed that students' critical thinking abilities were neither high nor low in the standard. This was confirmed by the analysis results of 4 indicators where from exposure to the assessment results of each indicator, there is an average value of all critical thinking indicators, namely 50,33%, where there are 6 students in the high category with a percentage of 24%, 14 students are in the medium category with a percentage of 56%, and 5 students in the low category with a percentage of 20%. Thus, it shows that students' critical thinking abilities are varied and not maximized. This is due to the students' habit of memorizing formulas without understanding the material and the lack of student attention when the teacher explains the material in front of the class. Therefore, students' critical thinking abilities are included in the medium category.
