Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kecerdasan emosional (emotional quotient) dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah materi asam basa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Telaga tahun pengajaran 2017/2018. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasi yaitu untuk menjelaskan hubungan antara satu variabel dengan variabel lain. Adapun populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas XI IPA SMAN 1 Telaga, sedangkan sampelnya adalah kelas XI IPA 1, XI IPA 3 dan XI IPA 4. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu uji normalitas, uji linieritas dan uji hipotesis statistik untuk kecerdasan emosional dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengujian hipotesis untuk hubungan kecerdasan emosional dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah diperoleh thitung = 13,49 > Ttabel =1,66. Hasil ini menujukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara kecerdasan emosional dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang signifikan pada materi asam basa.

This research aimed at determining the correlation between emotional intelligence (Emotional Quotient) and problem-solving ability in acid-base material at eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Telaga in the academic year 2017/2018. This research used a correlation method which was to explain the correlation between one variable and another variable. While the population in this researh was the all of students of Eleventh Grade of SMA Negeri 1 Telaga, and the samples were the Grades of XI IPA 1, XI IPA 3 and XI IPA 4 . The technique of data analysis used was a normality test, linearity test and statistical hypothesis test for the emotional intelligence and the ability of problem-solving. Research finding revealed that the hypothesis test for the correlation between emotional intelligence and problem-solving ability obtained the value of tcount = 13.49 > Ttable =1.66. It indicated that there was a significant correlation between the emotional intelligence and problem-solving abilities in acid-base material.
