ANALYSIS OF FACTORS OF CAUSING DAMAGE OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING IN DISTRICT OF BOALEMO

ABSTRACT
School building has a very important function in the development and growth of a region's education in an effort to realize the equality of education development as well as improving the quality and development of human resources. In accordance with the characteristics, buildings are always likely to experience a decrease in conditions indicated by the occurrence of damage to the physical buildings. The existence of damage to the physical buildings that are often found could reduce the condition of students learning and teachers at the school. This also happens in schools located in District of Boalemo.
The objective of this research is to identify the damage of Junior High School building in District of Boalemo and to find out the factors that cause damage of Junior High School building.
Type of research that will be used in this research is descriptive quantitative method, through field survey process and checklist sheet.
Based on research results, the identification at 23 Junior High Schools in the District of Boalemo, there are 10 schools are moderate damage, 11 schools are lightly damaged, and 2 schools are severely damaged, meanwhile the factors of causing damage of Junior High Schools building are caused by 2 factors. Factor 1 is human, i.e. low quality selection of materials which occur in 21 schools, poor construction work took place in 18 schools, poor maintenance occurred in 19 schools. Factor 2 is nature that is climate/climate effects occurred in 23 schools, location/condition of the descending soil occurred in 12 schools, termite pests that attack occurred in 12 schools, fungal and mildew disease occurred in 4 schools, as well as earthquake damage occurred in 4 schools.
