Seventh-grade students at SMPN Widyakrama state junior high school in Gorontalo regency have long been perplexed with learning ICT (information, communication and technology) subject, specifically the introduction to Microsoft Word lesson. Almost all students experienced this problem, leading them to be less interested in learning. This was based on a questionnaire reporting that the students¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½ average score arrived at 60; they were supposed to score 75 or above to pass the class (this is the minimum mastery standard). The objective of this research was to develop interactive multimedia-based instructional media for ICT subject for the seventh-grade students at the aforementioned school. The model of this study was research and development by Borg and Gall. Prior to the trial, the developed learning media will be validated by media and material experts through a validity test. The test was intended to generate data from media experts and material experts. The results revealed that 1) the score of the validity test by the media expert was 77 (90.58%) for step I and 79 (92.94 %) for step II. 2) The score of the validity test by the material expert was 65 (86.66 %). Following the validation process was the trial step. The result of the trial revealed assessed aspects of the developed media, the score, and the percentage of each aspect, as follows: design and interface (1043, 89.91%), relevance and clarity of the media (895, 88.17%), students¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½ response towards the interactive multimedia instructional media (1938, 89.10%). After using the media, the average evaluation score of the students was 89.65. Before using the designed media, the average score was only 62.43. In conclusion, the use of the developed instructional media ensured the enhancement of students¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½ mastery in operating Microsoft Word.
