Abstrak
This research was carried out to design English listening materials for the 12th grade students of Paket C. The research was conducted under two research question i.e What are the 12th grade students of Paket C������s English listening material learning needs? How English listening materials for the 12th grade students of Paket C designed? Design based Research was employed to conduct this study. Semi-structure interview and open-ended questionnaires were conducted to collect information about the students������ needs for listening in EFL teaching. Additionally, material and media expert validations were done. Data analysis revealed that first; Paket C students needed English listening materials based on their learning needs. Second, the audio media was designed by adopting bottom-up approach undergoing iterative processes i.e the phases of analysis of practical problem, the phases of media development, testing and refinement, and reflection phase. The design processes yielded three products i.e tutor������s book, students������ book, and MP3 listening materials. In conclusion, the 12th grade students of Paket C needs English listening materials related to their activity/background/profession, future/material usedness, educational background, surrounding environment, and life skill. All of students need aiming at design English listening materials for the twelfth grade students of Paket C.
