Rabies adalah suatu penyakit hewan menular yang diketahui penyebabnya yakni virus dan dapat menular ke manusia. Penyakit ini merupakan kelompok Zoonosa (Zoonosis) yaitu penyakit infeksi yang ditularkan oleh hewan ke manusia melalui pajanan atau gigitan hewan penular Rabies (GHPR) yaitu Anjing, Kera, Musang, dan Kucing. Sebagian besar sumber penularan Rabies ke manusia di Indonesia, disebabkan oleh gigitan anjing yang terinfeksi Rabies 98%. Ada beberapa jenis strategi pengendalian Rabies yaitu pendidikan, vaksinasi dan eliminasi, advokasi, sosialisasi, peningkatan kapasitas dan pelibatan dukungan masyarakat.
Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah survei analitik dengan menggunakan desain cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah masyarakat yang memelihara anjing dengan jumlah 119 pemilik anjing dan sampel berjumlah 91 pemilik anjing yang dihitung menggunakan rumus slovin.
Hasil penelitian dengan menggunakan analisis uji chi-square diperoleh variabel yang memiliki pengaruh pasrtisipasi masyarakat terhadap pelaksanaan program pencegahan Rabies di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Limboto adalah kemauan (��=0,005), kesempatan (��=0,010), kemampuan (��=0,001), pemanfaatan (��=0,015), evaluasi (��=0,034) dan kebutuhan (��=0,025). Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh pertisipasi masyarakat terhadap pelaksanaan program pencegahan Rabies dalam hal ini partisipasi kemauan, kesempatan, pemanfaatan, evaluasi, dan kebutuhan masyarakat. Diharapkan bagi petugas kesehatan di Puskesmas Limboto lebih memperbanyak kegiatan sosialisasi atau penyuluhan kepada masyarakat agar mereka lebih memahami tentang penyakit Rabies dan lebih aktif dalam menjalankan program pencegahan Rabies.

Rabies is contagious animal disease caused by a virus and can be transmitted to humans. The disease is a group of zoonoses (zoonotic disease), namely infectious disease transmitted by animals to humans through exposure or bites of rabies transmitting animals (GHPR), such as dogs, monkeys, civets, and cats. Mostly, the sources of rabies transmission to humans in Indonesia are caused by the bite of dogs infected with rabies, which is 98%. Meanwhile, there are some precaution strategies of rabies, such as education, vaccination and elimination, advocacy, dissemination, capacity building, and community support engagement.
This is an analytical survey research with a cross-sectional design. The population of this is the community that raises dogs as much as139 dog owners, while the sampels are 119 dog owners, which is calculated by using slovin formula. In the research field, however, there are only 91 dog owners obtained.
The research findings using the chi-square test analysis obtains variables affecting community participation in the implementation of rabies prevention program at the working area of Puskesmas Limboto are willingness (=0,005), opportunity ( =0,010), ability (=0,001), utilization (=0,0015), evaluation (=0,034), and needs (=0,025). In conclusion, there is an influence of community participation in the implementation of the Rabies prevention program, in this case the participation of the willingness, opportunity, utilization, evaluation, and community needs. It is expected that health workers at Puskesmas Limboto will increase their socialization or dissemination activities ti the community so that they understand more about Rabies and are more active in carrying out programs for the prevention of Rabies.
