ABSTRACT
Anita Mohamad. 2022. "The Correlation between Knowledge, Attitude and Action with Compliance in the Use of Ear Protective Equipment in Machine Workers at the ULPLTD Telaga" Bachelor's Degree Program in Public Health, Faculty of Sports and Health, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. The use of ear protective equipment for workers is urgently needed to prevent workplace accidents and occupational diseases. On the other hand, the use of ear protective equipment is not optimal due to discomfort and others. For this reason, the present research aimed to determine the correlation between knowledge, attitude, and action with compliance in the use of ear protective equipment in machine workers at the ULPLTD Telaga
Moreover, this research employed quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this research was the machine workers at the ULPLTD Telaga, with a total of 34 respondents taken by total sampling technique. At the same
time, the data analysis method used univariate and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test.
The research finding revealed that the knowledge and compliance with the use of ear protective equipment in machine workers at Telaga ULPLTD indicated that there were 18 workers (52.9%) with good knowledge and 16 workers (23.5%) with poor knowledge. For the attitude aspect, it was observable that there were 19 workers (55.9%) with a positive attitude and 15 workers (44.16) with a negative attitude. For the action aspect, it was known that 20 workers (58.8%) were using the ear protective equipment and 14 workers (41.26) were not. Furthermore, the results of the Chi-square test on knowledge obtained a p-value of 0.003, which was lower than a of 0.05. Similarly, the Chi-square test on attitude obtained ap-value of 0.001 lower than a of 0.05, while the action gained ap-value of o.000 lower than a of 0.05. This meant that there was a correlation between those three variables with the compliance with the use of ear protective equipment in machine workers at the ULPLTD Telaga.
As a recommendation, the company is suggested to carry out training and socialization for every worker about the use of ear protective equipment to increase the knowledge of workers so that it is expected to raise awareness of workers using ear protective equipment in the workplace.
