ABSTRACT
PAUWENI, HAIS TRENALDI. 2020. The Determination of Standardization of Methanol Extract of Caesalpinia Bonduc L. Beans as Raw Material for Herbal Medicine. Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor Study Program of Pharmacy, Faculty of Sports and Health, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, Principal Supervisor: Moh. Adam Mustapa, S.Si., M.Sc. Medicinal plants, or often known as natural medicine, can be used as traditional medicine, herbal medicine, and Phyto-pharmacy, which can prevent and treat diseases in the body. Advances in technology are also used to improve the quality of medicines that will affect trust in traditional medicines. In Gorontalo, Caesalpinia bonduc L. beans, in Gorontalo language called Tombili, are often left without knowing the quality and usefulness of the beans. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the specific gravity, moisture content, ash content, and loss on drying in order to give the information to the public regarding the safe limits of Caesalpinia bonduc L. beans extract as a quality and safe natural medicinal product. This laboratory experimental study was also purposed to determine non-specific parameters, which included the loss on drying test, specific gravity, ash content, and moisture content in the methanol extract of Caesalpinia bonduc L beans. Further, the Caesalpinia bonduc L. powder was extracted by maceration with methanol as a solvent. The non-specific test results were obtained, namely loss on drying of 6.1038% ¯¿½¯¿½¯¿½± 0.5441% (
