Abstrak

" Improving jump shoot skills in basketball match trought explicit instruction learning model: A study on Class VIII5 students of SMPN 1 State junior high school in dungaliyo". The problem in this research was the lack of students' ability to the perform basic movement of jump shoot in basketball match properly and the learning process and student understanding to perform basic movement of jumpshoot in basketball match was not optimal. The aim of this action class research was to increase the basic skill off jump shoot in basket ball through explicit instruction learning model on clas VIII5 students (29 students, with 12 males and 17 females) of SMP Negeri 1 Dungaliyo. Action hypotesis was "if teacher use explicit instruction learning model the students' ability to perform basic technique of jumpshoot will in crease". Performance indicator: if studens' ability in ferporming basic technique of jump shoot reach the minimum of 70% with the assessment criteria 70-79, then the action class is considered complete.
All data were collected from student observation sheets and teacher observation sheets, and learning materials given every cycle. These data were evaluated and then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Based on the data analysis, there was an increase in the average skills of jump shoot basic techhnique from 51.00 in early observation to to 70.39 cycle I. Further, the result was increased to 82.03. In other words, the hypotesis "if teacher use explicit instruction learning model then the jump shoot basic technique on students class VIII5 of SMP Negeri 1 Dungaliyo can be inscreased" wasacceptable.
