On earth, there are nearly 1 billion hypertension patients. There were about 1,013 patients identified at Internal Disease Polyclinic at Prof.Dr.Aloei Saboe Public hospital in 2012. It was caused by the lack of community awareness to check blood pressure earlier. As the results, knowledge and attitudes are considered important to have in order to prevent and control hypertension within the family members.
The research aimed to see the correlation between family knowledge and attitudes on hypertension prevention and incident at Internal Disease Polyclinic at Prof.Dr.Aloei Saboe Public hospital, Gorontalo city. The research applied an analytical descriptive method and a cross sectional study technique. The populations were all the patients at the polyclinic; the samples, in addition, were 67 samples involved among the patients. The data were then analyzed using SPSS.
The research results showed that there is correlation between family knowledge on hypertension prevention and incident shown in p value equaled to 0,011 (>0,05). Meanwhile, the attitudes on hypertension prevention and incident showed p value equaled to 0,014 (>0,05). It is expected that their family will always support and pay attention in the prevention action in order to increase the level of health situation in hypertension patients.

Di dunia, hampir 1 milyar orang menderita hipertensi. Di Poliklinik Penyakit Dalam RSUD prof.Dr. Aloei saboe tahun 2012 sebanyak 1.013 kasus hipertensi. Hal ini disebabkan rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat untuk memeriksakan tekanan darah secara dini. Sehingga pengetahuan serta sikap merupakan suatu hal yang sangat penting untuk dimiliki, agar keluarga bisa mencegah, serta mengendalikan penyakit hipertensi didalam keluarga itu sendiri.
Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan dan sikap keluarga tentang pencegahan hipertensi dengan kejadian hipertensi di poliklinik penyakit dalam RSUD Prof.DR. Aloei Saboe Kota Gorontalo.Desain Penelitian merupakan penelitian deskriptif analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional study. populasinya seluruh keluarga pasien yang datang berobat di poliklinik penyakit dalam dengan teknik accidental sampling sebanyak 67 responden. Analisa data dilakukan dengan SPSS.
Hasil penelitian menunjukan dengan uji Chi square adanya hubungan antara pengetahuan keluarga tentang pencegahan hipertensi dengan kejadian hipertensi dengan hasil p value 0,011 (>0,05). Sedangkan sikap menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara sikap keluarga tentang pencegahan hipertensi dengan kejadian hipertensi dengan hasil p value 0,014 (>0,05). Untuk itu diharapkan keluarga selalu memberikan dukungan dan perhatian dalam hal pencegahan hipertensi sehingga akan meningkatkan derajat kesehatan penderita hipertensi.
