The lack of mother’s knowledge about exclusive breast milk and the incessant of formula milk (MP-ASI/Complementary Food for Infant) advertisement make the breastfeeding pattern disrupted. Exclusive breastfeeding in Puskesmas Tamalate working area is only 58% which does not fulfill the target of Public Nutrition Counseling Action Plan 2010-2014 that 80% of 0-6 months baby get exclusive breast milk. The purpose of this research is to investigate whether there is any correlation between mother’s awareness and breastfeeding schedule.
This research use cross sectional method. The sample consist of 144 people out of 226 population. The sample was chosen by using proportional stratified random sampling method and use univariate and bivariate (chi square) data analysis.
The result shows that mother’s awareness about exclusive breast milk in Puskesmas Tamalate working area is in good category (55,6%). 90 (62,5%) mothers out of 144 prefer partial schedule for breastfeeding. Thus, there is a correlation between mother’s awareness and breastfeeding schedule which is shown by X2 count 12,083 (X2>5,991) and p 0,002 (< a 0,05).
It can be concluded that there is a correlation between mother’s awareness about exclusive breast milk and breastfeeding pattern in Puskesmas Tamalate working area, and it is expected to all public elements especially mothers and health workers to improve their roles in the enhancement of exclusive breastfeeding.

Kurangnya pengetahuan ibu tentang ASI Eksklusif dan gencarnya promosi susu formula (MP-ASI ) membuat pola ibu menyusui menjadi tidak Eksklusif. Pemberian ASI Eksklusif di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Tamalate pada tahun 2012 hanya 58%, hal ini belum mencapai target sesuai Rencana Aksi Kegiatan Pembinaan Gizi Masyarakat 2010-2014 yaitu 80% bayi usia 0-6 bulan mendapat ASI Eksklusif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu dengan pola menyusui.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Cross Sectional. Besar sampel sejumlah 144 dari jumlah populasi 226 orang. Pengambilan sampel secara Propotional stratified random sampling, dan menggunakan analisis data univariat dan bivariat (Chi Square).
Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa pengetahuan ibu tentang ASI Eksklusif di Wilayah kerja puskesmas tamalate dalam kategori baik yaitu sebesar (55,6%). Untuk pola menyusui dari 144 ibu menyusui, 90 orang ibu (62,5%) lebih memilih pola menyusui secara Parsial. Hasil penelitian bahwa ada hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu dengan pola menyusui dengan ?2 hitung 12,083 (?2>5,991) dan nilai p 0,002 (< ? 0,05).
Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu tentang ASI Eksklusif dengan pola menyusui di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Tamalate, dan diharapkan semua elemen masyarakat terutama ibu dan petugas kesehatan lebih meningkatkan partisipasinya dalam peningkatan pemberian ASI Eksklusif.
