Dewi Modjo. 2013. The correlation between the Menstrual Knowledge and the Readiness of the Girls of having menarche. (A comparative study in SMP N 1 Bone pantai and SMP N 3 Kota Gorontalo). Menarche is an important stage for girls. The knowledge they obtain about menstrual will affect their perception about their first menarche. This research aimed to describe the influence of the knowledge about menstrual and the readiness of the girls in having menarche.
This was a comparative descriptive one using cross sectional approach. The population and the sample were 66 students who never had menstrual before. Using total sampling technique, this research used chi square statistic test and mann – whitney test in analyzing the data.
The result showed that most of the respondents from SMPN 1 Bone Pantai had less knowledge and readiness about menarche, and there was a connection between respondents in SMPN 3 Kota Gorontalo had good knowledge and readiness, and there was no connection between their knowledge and readiness, shown by p=(0,199).
Mann – whitney test showed no difference between the knowledge and the readiness in both school. It is recommended for girls to obtain information early to be ready for menarche that will lead to a positive attitude toward any reaction of changes.

Manarche menjadi hal penting yang terjadi pada masa remaja. Pengetahuan yang diperoleh remaja tentang menstruasi akan mempengaruhi persepsi remaja tentang menstruasi pertama (manarche). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan tentang menstruasi dengan kesiapan menghadapi manarche pada remaja putri.
Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif komparatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi dan sampel sebanyak 66 orang pada siswi yang belum menstruasi. Dengan teknik total sampling. Analisis data menggunakan uji statistik chi square dan mann-whitney.
Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa responden di SMP N 1 Bone Pantai sebagian besar memiliki pengetahuan kurang dengan kesiapan yang kurang dan ada hubungan pengetahuan tentang menstruasi dengan kesiapan menghadapi manarche, di dapatkan nilai p=(0,000). Sedangkan di SMP N 3 Kota Gorontalo sebagian besar responden memiliki pengetahuan yang baik dengan kesiapan yang siap dan tidak terdapat hubungan pengetahuan tentang menstruasi dengan kesiapan menghadapi manarche, di dapatkan nila p=(0,199).
Dan pada uji mann-whitney di dapatkan tidak terdapat perbedaan pengetahuan dan kesiapan menghadapi manarche di kedua sekolah tersebut. Di harapkan siswa remaja putri perlu mendapat informasi tentang menstruasi secara dini sebagai bekal dalam menghadapi manarche sehingga dapat berdampak positif terhadap reaksi perubahan.
