Abstract
ABSTRAK Danau Limboto merupakan danau alami dengan luas sekitar 3.000 hektar merupakan salah satu ikon yang dikenal di Kabupaten Gorontalo. Keberadaan dari danau ini memiliki peranan penting bagi masyarakat Gorontalo. Di bidang budaya berfungsi sebagai sarana rekreasi/pariwisata, sarana penelitian dan edukasi serta sarana pengembangan kebudayaan. Oleh karena itu, perlu dikaji budaya (cerita rakyat) dan pengetahuan lokal masyarakat mengenai eksistensi dan sejarah terbentuknya Danau Limboto berdasarkan pendekatan Folklore. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji legenda Danau Limboto berdasarkan pendekatan Folklore di Kabupaten Gorontalo. Pendekatan yang digunakan pendekatan Folklore. Pengumpulan data dengan cara survey lapangan dan wawancara serta dianalisis secara deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, legenda Danau Limboto merupakan perwujudan dari fakta sosial kehidupan masyarakat Gorontalo pada masa dulu. Fakta sosial tersebut berisi rekaman peristiwa masa lalu yang dikemas dalam bentuk cerita imajinatif dalam rangka menghidupkan cerita tersebut agar tetap lestari. Hasil analisis folklore, keberadaan tempat kejadian diberi nama sesuai dengan awal kejadiannya. Danau Limboto yang berasal dari kata limu tutu (jeruk emas). Pemberian nama danau yang berasal dari limu tutu atau jeruk emas dipercaya masyarakat berasal dari jeruk kayangan. Danau Limboto nama pemberian yang disampaikan oleh Mbui Bungale ketika melihat ada tiga buah jeruk merupakan jeruk yang benar-benar berasal dari kayangan (limu otutu). Gelar Mbui ini selanjutnya dalam sejarah Gorontalo diberikan kepada puteri atau permaisuri raja Gorontalo. Kata kunci: budaya, folklore, potensi wisata, muatan lokal ABSTRACT Lake Limboto is a natural lake with an area of about 3,000 hectares. It is one of the known icons in Gorontalo District. The existence of this lake has an important role for the people of Gorontalo. In the field of culture, it served as a means of recreation/tourism, research and education facilities as well as the tool of cultural development. Therefore, it is necessary to study the cultures (the folklores) and local knowledge of the existence and history of the formation of Lake Limboto based on the folklore approach. The purpose of this research was to study the legend of Lake Limboto based on folklore approach in Gorontalo District. The approach used was the folklore approach. The techniques of data collection was by field survey and interview and descriptively analyzed. Based on the results of the analysis, the legend of Lake Limboto is a manifestation of the social facts of the life of the people of Gorontalo in the past. Social facts contain recordings of past events that are packed in the form of imaginative stories in order to live the story to remain sustainable. Folklore analysis results, the existence of the scene was named according to the beginning of the incident. Lake Limboto derived from the word limu tutu (golden orange). Giving the name of the lake derived from limu tutu or golden orange believed the community came from heaven’s orange. Lake Limboto name given by Mbui Bungale when he saw there were three oranges that actually come from heaven (limu otutu). in the further history of Gorontalo, Mbui's title was given to the princess or empress of the king of Gorontalo.
